Roland James Green was a Chicago fan and the author of some 60 books under his own name and pseudonyms, including the house name Jeffrey Lord. He was also active in the Society for Creative Anachronism as Roland de Tour Gris.
Born in Pennsylvania, he grew up in Ypsilanti, MI, received his bachelors in political science at Oberlin College and moved to Chicago where he earned a Masters in International Politics at the University of Chicago and became involved with fandom. In 1975, he married Frieda A. Murray, with whom he collaborated on short fiction and a daughter, Violette.
