As of 1994, Joe Sanders taught English at Lakeland Community College, Mentor, Ohio. He has written books on Roger Zelazny and E. E. "Doc" Smith, many articles, and hundreds of book reviews.
He began reading SF in the late 1940s and has been involved in fandom since the mid-1950s. He published the FAPAzine Somewhatly. See his 1994 book Science Fiction Fandom. In recent years, his fanac has been very limited, but he has labored to explain fandom to the academic world and vice versa.
