Tropicon I

Tropicon I was a convention held March 12-14, 1982 at the Sheraton Hotel in Boca Raton, FL and the GoH was Lee Hoffman.

It was chaired by Joe Siclari and was held in conjunction with Swanncon 3, the International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts.

Memorable moments:

• GoH Lee Hoffman walks into the Art Show set-up, grabs some tools and goes to work. Next year she shows up with her own screwdriver, worn on a chain as a necklace.
• Becky Peters embroidered the convention T-shirt to give to the GoH.
• Other guests attending: Samuel R. Delany, Vincent Di Fate, Fritz Leiber, Frederik Pohl, James Gunn, Brian Aldiss, Gene Wolfe, Ellen Datlow, Somtow Sucharitkul, Joseph L. Green, Charles N.
