A British fan who sometimes spelled his name Jhim. Perhaps his most prominent contribution to the field was his coinage of the term "New Wave" in Les Spinge in 1964.

He was a member of NotFans and a founder of the Young Science Fiction Reading Group for which he published the YSFRG Newsletter. He was a member of OMPA for which he published Fifty-Second Street, Jetstream, Son of the Fanalytic Eye, and Movie Music. Other fanzines included Potlatch, Man with the Golden Arm, and Typo (with Michael Moorcock).
