Derek Carter, a fan artist, was born in the U.K., attended Kingston College of Art in London, and then lived in Toronto, where he was an early member of OSFIC. He was active in the 1960s–80s.

His work appeared in many fanzines, and some of it has been collected in The Derek Carter Alphabet and And Lo God Made Rotsler for Duff.

He illustrated the SF comic Operation Missile in 1968, which was one of the first publications in the Canadian underground scene. He also published in the periodical Andromeda.

He now lives in California with his wife, fellow gafiate Lynn Parks-Carter.
