Major is the author of the critical study, Heinlein's Children: The Juveniles (Advent 2006).
He has received three Hugo nominations:
Heinlein's Children studies Robert A. Heinlein's juvenile novels and "emphasizes plot development and incident, considers what Heinlein was trying to do in each story and how well he succeeded, and also points out possible influences from other sources."
