From Fancyclopedia 1, ca. 1944
If you're looking for anything else that starts with this, but you'd better thumb back to the Fs.

Fancyclopedia 1 (sometimes) followed Simplifyd Spelng rules substituting "F" for "Ph" in words such as fotografy and the punning foolosofy. "Simplifyd" was used as a simplified spelling of "confusing."

Meanwhile, the fannish propensity for adding an H into words will sometimes turn "F" into "Ph" β€” e.g., Phoxphyre.
