(???? – 1945)

Earl Kay, an early fan who lived in Fargo, North Dakota, was one of the many editors of FANEWS[CARD].

He was in the Army during World War II, fighting at Anzio. After a spell at home recuperating, he refused a medical discharge and went back, becoming the last known fan casualty of the War, going MIA in Germany just days before the War's end.

Walt Dunkelberger, his co-editor, published a letter from a mutual friend, Capt. Ed Olson, reporting that an ID bracelet belonging to the missing Kay was recovered from a German POW in FANEWS[CARD] 159 (May 28, 1945), and the sad news that Kay was likely dead in #220 (October 1, 1945).
