(October 17, 1916 – August 10, 1984)

Virgil Franklin Partch, a cartoonist who generally signed his work “VIP,” is best remembered for his mainstream comic strip “Big George” and standalones in many magazines, plus a number of books. However, a few of his illos appeared in fanzines from the 1940s through ’60s, including Fan and Rhodomagnetic Digest.

Partch was killed in a car accident in 1984.
