OKon 6 was a convention held July 15-17, 1983 at the Excelsior Hotel (later the Doubletree) in Tulsa, OK. The Guests of Honor were Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle, the Artist GoH was Real Musgrave, and the Fan GoH was Marty Burke.
The Excelsior gave the convention such grief that it announced in the program book that OKon 7 would be held at a different hotel. One fan managed to shove a broadsword through one of the hotel walls. Over 1,500 attended the con, which raised money for the American Cancer Society.
OKon also hosted FilkCon 5.2 that year, with Bill Maraschiello and other filkers in attendance. Flyers promoting a bid to have the 1988 World Science Fiction Convention in Tulsa were distributed at several conventions that year, but not enough support was gathered for the bid.
