Syncon '79, Australian Natcon 18, was held in August 1979 at the New Crest Hotel, King's Cross in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The GoHs were Gordon R. Dickson, Ken Fletcher, Linda Lounsbury, and Kouichi Yamamoto. Yamamoto was selected by a vote of Japanese fans and funded by the Australia-Japan Foundation.
