The British Amateur Press Association (BAPA) was the first (albeit non-fantasy or fannish) Amateur Press Association in the UK. It was founded in 1890.

Ted Carnell was a member, contributing Creep, Shadow! in 1945–6. Other fannish members included Ron Lane and Bill Groveman. When Groveman was posted to the UK during the Second World War he attempted to meet up with other BAPA members including Lane but without success[1].
