David Mark Weber is an American SF and fantasy author. He has written several SF and fantasy series, the best known of which is the Honor Harrington series. The military sf series is loosely based on Horatio Hornblower and the Napoleonic Wars. It inspired the Royal Manticoran Navy fan club.

Weber's first novel, which he worked on with Steve White, sold in 1989 to Baen Books, which has since remained his major publisher.

In 2020, Weber was hospitalized with Covid-19. He and his wife, Sharon, live in Greenville, South Carolina, with their three children.
