The Northumberland Heath SF Society is the London Borough of Bexley's only SF group, lying on the Kent County border with half its members in S. E. London and half in Kent.
Its principal activities revolve around a monthly pub meet in the Duchess of Kent the evenings of the second Thursday of the month (so as not to clash with the first Thursday "London Circle" meetings.
Monthly meetings consist of informal SF chat, there is no agenda other than group news though there is a seasonal book give-away and also an SF magazine circulation. Other activities include: occasional weekend socials; outings to SFnal exhibitions; mid-week afternoon cinema trips (typically every other month); and field trips to conventions and film festivals.
The group was formed in the autumn of 2017. However, it had a previous incarnation in the form of The Phoenicians: NW Kent SF Society of the 1990s and early 2000s that met at the Phoenix pub in Dartford.
The Northumberland Heath SF Society has connections with other SF groups notably some of the The Science Fact & Fiction Concatenation online fanzine team (the zine hosts their webpage) and fans in Kyiv, Ukraine.
The daughter of the fan Vin¢ Clarke is a member and as such there is a loose historical link with the London Circle of the late 1940s and '50s. Another member used to regularly attend the London Circle from the late 1970s to early '90s.
The group has a web page http://www.concatenation.org/n-heath-sf.html and is on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/northheathscifi

This is a club page. Please extend it by adding information about when and where the club met, when and by whom it was founded, how long it was active, notable accomplishments, well-known members, clubzines, any conventions it ran, external links to the club's website, other club pages, etc.
When there's a floreat (Fl.), this indicates the time or times for which we have found evidence that the club existed. This is probably not going to represent the club's full lifetime, so please update it if you can! |
