Steve Jackson, a Texas fan and member of FACT, is a game designer and founder of Steve Jackson Games, based in Austin, TX. Titles to his credit include Ogre, Car Wars, Illuminati, GURPS, and Munchkin. In addition to his professional activities, he remains a fan, and occasionally filks. Fellow fan Monica Stevens was his long-time partner.
He was GoH at Dublin 2019, the 2019 Worldcon.
In the 1980s, he was active in ALAMO. He was formerly a landed baron in the SCA and its National Chronicler.
In 1990, the U.S. Secret Service raided the offices of Steve Jackson Games, confiscating a computer hosting a BBS as well as others containing files for GURPS Cyberpunk. The raid was one of the events which inspired the creation of the Electronic Frontier Foundation. The Secret Service was sued, with Steve Jackson games being awarded $50,000 in damages and $250,000 in attorneys' fees.
Steve is a member of the Adventure Gaming Hall of Fame, and the winner of the 2014 Phoenix Award.
