Louis Isaac Kuslan was an early fan, active in the 1930s and ’40s. He was the brother of Gertrude Kuslan with whom he shared a lot of fanac. They lived in West Haven, Connecticut, and published the fanzine Cosmic Tales in the late 1930s. After Cosmic Publications, their publishing house was LuGerKus. They published the apazines FAPA Review (a one-shot) and Nucleus.

Both were charter members of The National Fantasy Fan Federation in 1941, and Louis ran unsuccessfully for its Board. He tried to start AFA. The siblings were on the membership rolls of the first several Worldcons.

He owned the auto, Empress of FooFoo.

Louis earned a B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Connecticut and a Ph.D. from Yale University before becoming an instructor of Science at New Haven State Teachers College, which became Southern Connecticut State University. He ultimately became Dean of Arts and Sciences, and Acting Vice-President of Faculty Affairs before he retired in 1987.
