The first Finnish sf-club, the Turun SF-Seura (Turku SF Society), was founded in January 1976. They also launched the first Finnish fanzine; Spin.

Finnish fans have run Finncon since 1986, Farmertacon in 1992, Åcon since 2007, Archipelacon in 2015 and hosted Worldcon 75 in Helsinki in 2017.
