Edna F. Duna (later Budrys), a member of the Hydra Club, was introduced to the club and fandom in the 1940s by her friend Lois Miles. She also belonged to the ESFA.

There, she met and married A. J. Budrys in 1954. They moved to Evanston, Illinois, became involved with Chicago fandom, and raised four sons.
