A genre publisher, generally producing magazines in digest format. Mercury Publications, through its subsidiary Fantasy House, initiated publication of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, usually known as F&SF.
At that time, Mercury Publications was owned and operated by Lawrence E. Spivak, an American publisher and journalist, who later became the cofounder of the long running television public affairs show Meet the Press.
