Prosuckers are sycophants whose main fanac revolves around worship of professional writers, editors, artists, actors, etc., placing them above mere fans -- the stfnal equivalent of a groupie. In case it isn't completely obvious, this is not a complimentary term.
The trufannish attitude is that pros are mostly fellow fans who have made a wonderful creative contribution to the sf community.
The term was coined by Priscilla Olson in the 1980s, and it immediately won out over terms like prodie, pro licker and sycofan.
