Edward Dale Hart, an early fan who was born in Oklahoma and raised in Texas, started reading sf in 1930 and became a fan in 1937 when he came across Fantasy Magazine. He was the main organizer of the Tri-Cities SFL and was a member of FAPA, SFA, the Sacred Order of FooFoo, OSA, and WAFFF.

He attended the first Worldcon, Nycon, in 1939, where he tried to convince the Triumvirs to reverse their Exclusion Act against the Futurians.
