DeepSouthCon 23 was held June 21-23, 1985 at the Carriage Inn in Huntsville, AL. The GoH was Marion Zimmer Bradley, Barclay Shaw was the Artist GoH, and Bob Sampson was Fan GoH.
Attendance was 822. The convention was chaired by Mary Axford and Richard Gilliam and Algis Budrys was MC.
Larry Montgomery and P. L. Caruthers-Montgomery won the Rebel Award and Sharon Webb was the Phoenix Award winner.
It was here that the Wigwam Village hoax bid was run, but Louisville beat out both it and Memphis for the 1986 DSC.
There was a short con report in File 770 54, p. 20.
