Sam J. Basham, Jr. was a member of First Fandom, and took part in the selection of stories for The Gernsback Awards 1926, Volume 1 (1982).
At one time he was also a member of N3F and attended Philcon.
He was elected to the First Fandom Hall of Fame in 2013.
Basham was a mortician. He married Ellen Barnard in 1949.
A tribute to Basham by Jon D. Swartz appeared in the New Series #49, 3rd Quarter, 2016 issue of Scientifiction -- the First Fandom Report.
