Reading is a town in England, about 40 miles west of London.
John Brunner lived in the area in the 1950s; Dave Langford, and thus Ansible, since the 1970s.
A Reading SF Club was founded in 1974 by Keith Freeman and Chris Fowler. It was based at the University and members were credited with collating and mailing the BSFA's Vector in the mid-1970s. This practice continued into the 1980s and early 1990s, under the more general auspices of the BSFA and likely after the group's demise.
Since the 1990s it has been home to the Reading Science Fiction Group.
