The Medway Science and Fantasy Club, originally announced as the Medway Science Fiction Fan Club, was a club formed in August 1952 in Gillingham, Kent, UK by Jeanne Thorne and Tony Thorne, the latter the proprietor of the Medway Science & Fantasy Centre Bookshop. An initial meeting in the Thorne home agreed a membership fee of 2/6 plus a weekly contribution of 3d. It also set a minimum age of 18 ' in view of the technicalities of the subjects for discussion and also due to the limited space available'[1] although a junior section was proposed. Meetings were on Wednesdays and occasional Saturdays and by October 1953 there were about 20 members.

Their clubzine was The Medway Journal and in November 1953 they ran the Medcon. The club lasted until about 1960.

This is a club page. Please extend it by adding information about when and where the club met, when and by whom it was founded, how long it was active, notable accomplishments, well-known members, clubzines, any conventions it ran, external links to the club's website, other club pages, etc.

When there's a floreat (Fl.), this indicates the time or times for which we have found evidence that the club existed. This is probably not going to represent the club's full lifetime, so please update it if you can!
