Consonance is a filk convention held annually in the Bay Area area. It was founded by Bob Laurent in 1990. Since 2001, Consonance has been sponsored by FanFare Music, a 501(c)(3) fannish charity. Since 2013, Consonance has been held in Milpitas, CA at the hotel now known as the Sonesta San Jose.

From 2003 to the present, Consonance has had at least one guest from outside the U.S. every year.

After Buck Coulson passed away early in 1999, Consonance 1999 raised over $5,000 to help pay his final expenses. Consonance 2018 raised over $20,000 so that Santa Cruz filker Summer Russell could have surgery, not covered by her insurance, to cure a painful condition from which she had suffered for two decades.
