Mary Gnaedinger was editor of three SF and fantasy magazines in the 1930s–1950s: Famous Fantastic Mysteries (1939–1953), Fantastic Novels (1940–1951), and A. Merritt's Fantasy Magazine (1949–1950).
She conducted "The Readers' Viewpoint" column in Famous Fantastic Mysteries and the "What Do You Think" column in Fantastic Novels.
There is evidence that she was a member of the New York Futurians. Her son, Art Gnaedinger, was a fan.
