The 1956 Best Novelette Hugo was presented September 3 at Nycon II. This third year of the Hugos there was for the first time a shortlist of nominees, with the winner selected by voting by the members of the convention.
Winner: "Exploration Team" (alt: "Combat Team") by Murray Leinster [Astounding Mar 1956]
