The bidders for the right to hold the 1964 Worldcon were Los Angeles in '64, San Francisco in '64 and a Mordor in '64 hoax bid. The LA bid withdrew from the race in late 1962 and San Francisco was selected to run the Worldcon (and Westercon) at site selection at Chicon III.
