A small press founded by Earl Kemp and other members of the University of Chicago Science Fiction Club, including Sidney Coleman, Ed Wood, Jon Stopa, and Bob Briney in 1956. Advent incorporated on May 25, 1957 and added George W. Price and Jim O'Meara as additional partners.

In the early years, Kemp was the driving force with Price, Ed Wood and Coleman also taking active roles. From the late 60s until 2104, Price led Advent. They had a distribution deal with NESFA Press.

The Wikipedia article on Advent is exceptionally complete and worth reading.

In 2014, Advent was acquired by ReAnimus Books, an e-book publisher, thus ending the last of the old stfnal small presses.
