Novacon 1 was held November 13-14, 1971 at the Imperial Centre in Birmingham, UK by the University of Aston Science Fiction Group. At that time, Eastercon was the only regular convention in the UK. The GoH was James White. Attendance was 144. The committee was Vernon Brown (chairman, Ray Not-the-Author Bradbury, Alan Denham, Alan Donnelly, and Pauline Dungate.
