Located at 1800 E. Golf Road, Schaumburg, IL, the hotel hosted Windycon from 1984 through 2003. It also hosted DucKon twice and the 1990 and ’96 World Fantasy Cons.
During the years when it was most active as an sf-convention hotel, it was known for an extensive koi pond in the front lobby, since removed. It adjoins Woodfield Mall, one of the nation’s largest shopping centers, a longish walk across vast parking lots, especially during Windycon’s chilly November weather.
Since the last fan event held there, the Village of Schaumburg instituted trolley service between the hotel, mall and other destinations, and the hotel underwent renovations, so it may prove a possible con site in the future.
