A British SF writer with a PhD in Sociology who has published more than 70 novels and more than a hundred shorter works beginning in the 60s. He occasionally used the pseudonym Brian Craig. Besides his own SF, he has done a large amount of translation from French. He won the Pilgrim Award in 1999.

In the 60s he co-edited the fanzine Proteus.
