Chimera 1 was a self-described "Small speculative fiction convention" scheduled to be held July 20-22, 1990 at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield in [[Schaumburg, IL]].  The [[GoHs]] were [[Howard Waldrop]], [[Connie Willis]] and [[Gardner Dozois]].  It's motto was "No Masquerade. No Film Room. Just Talk".

It is unclear who sponsored it, but it was made possible by funding from the [[Mudlarks of Space]].
