Michael M. Levy
(April 15, 1950 -- April 3, 2017)
Mike Levy was a noted expert on children's and YA sf and fantasy. He edited Extrapolation starting in 2006 and reviewed extensively, including for The New York Review of Science Fiction and other publications. He was active in the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts and the Science Fiction Research Association, and starting in 2010 was a member of the editorial board of The Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts. He wrote (with Farah Mendlesohn) Children's Fantasy Literature: An Introduction (2016). He also drew maps for fantasies by P. C. Hodgell, and published at least one short story.
He was born in Chicago, attended the University of Illinois, Ohio State University, and the University of Minnesota for his PhD (1982). He taught English literature at the University of Wisconsin Stout.
