David Rowland Grigg, a Melbourne fan and pro, founded the Melbourne University Science Fiction Association and its clubzine, Yggdrasil, in 1970.

Grigg was a member of the Aussiecon committee in 1975, and was responsible for the Hugo ballot. He was also an attendee of the Writer's Workshop run by Ursula K. Le Guin just prior to the convention.

He was a member of the Melbourne in '85 committee and was chair of Aussiecon Two, taking over from John Foyster who had to resign. He was GoH at ARCon.

He designed the board game FANAC!

He is a long-time member of ANZAPA and joined with the 9th mailing in 1971. He has been Official Bloody Editor of the organisation several times, and has been in that role since the apa went into digital form in late 2020.

He had several short stories published professionally in the 1970s and 1980s, along with two short fantasy novels for remedial readers. Since his retirement in 2011, he has published several collections of short stories as well as a novel, The Fallen Sun.
